What it's like to work at HackerRank?

4 ★★★★ - The Most "People First" Company I've ever been part of

  • Yes- Recommend
  • Yes - CEO Approval
  • Yes - Business Outlook

Pros

"After 4 years in the HR & Tech industry, I've had the chance to work with some companies that are incredibly forward thinking in their treatment of their employees. This is the first time I've truly felt that my company talks the talk AND walks the walk. Everyone at HackerRank is treated with consideration, respect, and kindness. This type of culture filters downward from leadership and our leadership genuinely cares for our employees, not the "bottom line" which is evident across the board in the culture. HackerRank is innovative, resilient, and constantly in a "learning" mindset."

Cons

"As a growing software company, one of the cons that can also be spun into a positive is that it can be a bit difficult to move the ball on bigger projects when handling day to day operations. This however, has always been my experience with tech and startup companies. The pro to this con though is that you are getting surplus experience to add to your personal growth. For me in my role, I would like to be able to implement things that impactful and bigger picture for our organization, but the ability and time I have to complete these items depends on how busy our day-to-day HR operations are."

Advice to Management

"None. They take feedback, they truly listen and process that feedback and they ask questions. Leadership asking questions to their employees is a sign of true leadership to me."

2 ★★ - Culture and Environment turned upside down

  • No - Recommend
  • No - CEO Approval
  • n/a - Business Outlook

Pros

"Unlimited PTO is available and a fully remote workforce"

Cons

"Executive leadership has become a nightmare with the turn of the market. High level of micromanagement and no checks and balances. The organization is basically run just by two individuals. No women in highly visible exec roles. Compensation plans for people inside and outside of sales has been reduced. Desperately trying to pivot in this current macro environment and the leadership team is doing a really poor job steering the ship and instilling confidence in teams. People continue to exit, every week it feels like we get a notice of people exiting the organization. Now is not the time to be joining. This was a great place 12 months ago."
