What is Product Designer at Netflix?
The role of a Product Designer on our team may be a bit different from other companies, as we expect our individual contributor leaders to own a product domain with multiple initiatives working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Consumer Insights. Our Designers are measured by how well they identify business needs through domain expertise and business context as well as consistently producing and/or facilitating deliverables that elevate the quality of work for their team and others. You will be focused on the Member Experience team and be an integral partner in the project's development.
Expect your time to be split: 50% on the strategic (vision, prototypes, conceptual) and 25% on the tactical (variations, specs, experimentation) and 25% on communication( feedback, bridge, setting context). You should be known for your design thinking and consumer science. You are expected to consider the implications of sometimes ambiguous variables to inform strategic decisions.
4 additional traits we are looking for:
1. Members First Mentality: Has a demonstrated track record and is widely known for an unwavering focus on members’ needs.
2. Multitimbral: Effortlessly toggles between diverse business needs, and has expertise in prioritizing and focusing on the “right” things, not “everything”.
3. Product Driver: Has developed a set of product first principles which has allowed them to successfully lead performance teams in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.
4. Collaborator: Has a natural curiosity that allows them to effortlessly work with partners
Does this sound interesting but overwhelming?
Please don’t self-select out; let’s figure it out together. We’d love to talk to you! We are an equal opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity of thought and background builds more substantial teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
