Remote Job Description
Mediavine is seeking an established Director of Finance & Accounting to join our growing company. We’re looking for someone who will be able to develop and lead all finance efforts for Mediavine including FP&A, accounting, and financial operations. You’ll work closely with our Co-Founders as well as the executive leadership team and will provide tactical and strategic support in all aspects of our finances.
As the Director of Finance & Accounting, you will be responsible for building, growing and leading the finance and accounting function at Mediavine. The ideal candidate will have proven experience building and managing a small team, establishing financial management and reporting best practices as well as day to day accounting. The Director of Finance & Accounting will also drive financial planning and budgeting activities, work across the company to support the financial operations of the business while partnering with leadership to enable Mediavine’s continued growth. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a VP of Finance as the company grows.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Build an F&A department; providing financial leadership, developing and implementing financial processes as well as strategies to support the overall goals of the organization
- Lead in the day to day delivery and process improvement of all finance functions to include financial planning & analysis, reporting, accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and tax
- Develop financial operations ensuring we incorporate controls and considerations into relevant day-to-day operations and decision making
- Develop and maintain necessary systems to support the financial operations of the business
- Develop tools to provide critical information to the leadership team and relevant stakeholders to improve our decision-making
- Maintain detailed financial models that accurately forecast revenue and provide variance commentary for Actuals vs Forecast and Actuals vs Budget and Actuals vs Prior Year
- Manage financial programs to include corporate credit program
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual business reports and financial statements, ensuring quality and accuracy
- Partner with leadership to develop operating budgets and ensure a mutual understanding of key objectives and priorities
- Develop and refine processes and policies to increase the financial efficiency and effectiveness of the business
- Develop financial metrics, analyzing results and trends to create impactful insights to support business decision making
- Stay up to date with the latest changes in financial reporting and compliance regulations
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the finance and accounting department
- Build and manage relationships across the business, external teams and vendors, including banks
- Represent the company externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease negotiations
- Expertise in identifying business risk and due diligence for business pursuits
- Required travel on an as needed basis, for our annual All Hands Retreat, Department Retreat(s) and industry events/conferences (approx. 15%)

Location
- Must currently live in the United States
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a high growth or tech start up environment
- 5+ years of related experience in a high-growth company that you helped scale, implementing processes, financial controls and building new systems from scratch
- Experience and proven results running finance functions in high growth companies with annual revenues in excess of $500M
- Track record of building strong teams from the ground up; leading and influencing others in a diverse and collaborative work environment
- Expert knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks; Expensify, a plus
- Proven experience managing annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process, balance sheet and cash flow
- Experience preparing and presenting financial models and reports to leadership team helping to drive business decisions
- Successful track record of working with cross-functionally with the ability to influence and build strong relationships
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and financial risk management
- Current knowledge of financial regulations, compliance and other accounting, principles and practices to include GAAP
- Experience with corporate, federal and state tax requirements
- Understanding of revenue, associated financial KPI’s and how to drive operational improvement
- Experience working with legal on matters such as contracts and licensing as well as the ability to work with outside financial partners such as accounting firms and banks
- Experience using Slack and Google workspace for day to day collaboration
- Strong financial analysis, problem solving, critical thinking skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to balance priorities and proactively anticipating issues in a fast-paced environment
- High standard of ethics with the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality, and sensitivity towards issues and individuals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to approx 15%
