Additional Information

(Colorado only*) Minimum full-time salary range between $198,000 - $212,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. *Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.


  • Help define and execute/implement a long-term roadmap with other leads and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Serve as a security engineering leader and security domain expert in Operating Systems. 
  • Work with tech leads and executive leadership to review hardware roadmap, technical designs, and architectural improvements, while also considering engineering tradeoffs between security, reliability, and performance.

  • Leverage technical expertise in systems and security and analyze vulnerabilities on a large-scale. Address security challenges with trade-offs between security, performance, and sustainability. 

  • Advocate for security and build trust across security and engineering teams in Chrome OS.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 5 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management)
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects
