Remote Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Tax Controversy will report to the Director, Tax Controversy and will play a key role in the Tax team as DoorDash expands. You will manage DoorDash’s US/International/State & Local tax controversy matters, and monitor US/State/International tax proposals. You will build successful relationships within Tax and across the broader company to respond to tax authority inquiries. 

About the Team
It’s an exciting time to join our growing Tax team and be a part of the fast growth we are experiencing! The Tax team is involved in the operations of the business that impact Dashers, Merchants and Customers. As an important partner to the business, we are involved at the front-end on plans for new products or country expansions, and integrated with the other functions in the CFO organization. As DoorDash continues to expand its product offerings and global footprint, we must keep up with routine audits by tax authorities of our operations. We must also stay abreast of Federal/State & Local/International tax policy developments that may impact our operations.

  • Manage all aspects of tax audits and tax authority inquiries from start to finish.
  • Support tax positions subject to audit.
  • Analyze current and proposed indirect tax policy changes, evaluating impacts, developing plans accordingly.
  • Perform research on a variety of tax issues, including new transaction taxes, new markets and project-specific projects.
  • Partner with a variety of DoorDash teams, including accounting, legal, engineering, operations, and finance on a variety of projects.
We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 8+ years of relevant tax experience with an understanding of US direct and indirect tax, including but not limited to consulting, controversy, and compliance.
  • You have an ability to understand common principles of US direct and indirect tax and ability to apply them to the business.
  • You have a B.S. degree; CPA or JD (JD equivalent) required. MST or Tax LLM.
  • You have relevant public accounting, law firm or industry experience.
  • You have an ability to communicate technical tax issues to non-tax team members.
