Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Security and Compliance Lead refines and manages the quality of Ad Hoc’s security and compliance offerings to our clients. This role is critical in steering discussions between Ad Hoc product and engineering leads, and our government partners, to outline security and compliance requirements for our federal health teams. With a team of security-minded folks, the Security and Compliance Lead identifies initiatives and creates roadmaps for improving the way federal health teams meet and exceed compliance needs. 

The Security and Compliance Lead is a master at organization with the ability to orchestrate multiple groups through various stages of security reviews. They will establish and build strong relationships with stakeholders to continuously improve the security processes and tooling used by federal health teams. Additionally, they will mentor security team members and coach product and engineering teams on consistent standards, best practices, and areas of improvement. 

Required skills & experience
  • Must have previous experience supporting software teams in a security and compliance capacity, preferably within an agile environment. Some examples include translating security and compliance requirements into tasks, prioritizing tickets, removing blockers, developing plans to support development, and understanding how changes may impact software security and privacy.  
  • Understands how to create processes that support the delivery of secure and compliant systems while minimizing burden and impact on product teams. Has experience operating within the context of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Takes a consultative and proactive approach to understanding requirements, designing effective processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement. 
  • Experienced at delivering formal documentation (i.e., System Security Plans, Version Description Document, contracts, application documentation) and is effective at translating complex technical terms for a wide variety of audiences. 
  • Capable of managing compliance efforts and reporting on progress across multiple teams. 
  • Experience leading projects and teams
  • Experience prioritizing and delegating tasks
  • Capable of mentoring and coaching team members
  • Capable of identifying where security improvements are needed, communicating such need to broader audiences for buy-in, and creating roadmaps and plans for achieving shared goals
Preferred Certifications
  • CISA, CISSP or HCISSP preferred, not required
  • AWS Certified Security Specialty preferred, not required
