Remote Job Description
Plaid is looking for a Revenue Accounting Manager to lead all aspects of our order-to-cash operations and revenue recognition and reporting workstreams. In this role, you will build strong working relationships with cross-functional partners (including Go-to-Market, Engineering, Product, BizOps, Strategic Finance, and Commercial teams) to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of revenue results. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of managing an established revenue function and implementing process and system improvements. This role will initially report to the Head of Revenue and Technical Accounting.
What excites you:
- Managing and mentoring the team responsible for end-to-end billing operations, revenue recognition under ASC 606, AR and collections
- Ensuring timely and accurate recording of Plaid’s revenue and accounts receivable transactions on a monthly and quarterly basis, including oversight of month-end fluctuation analyses and account reconciliations
- Maintaining and enforcing the company’s revenue recognition policy in line with ASC 606
- Enabling Plaid’s growth by providing timely and pragmatic guidance to Go-to-Market teams on non-standard contracts, driving consensus among cross-functional teams
- Partnering with Engineering, Product, Deal Desk, and BizOps teams to enable billing for new products and drive efficiencies in overall order-to-cash process
- Analyzing revenue and AR data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Proposing and implementing updates to our AR reserve methodology; defining and creating a scalable process for identifying revenue vs. bad debt reserves
- Challenging the status quo and leading projects to support process automation
- Overseeing all aspects of revenue and AR-related areas during financial statement audits
What excites us:
- 8+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably at a SaaS/software company
- 2+ years of experience managing a small team
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- A proven self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and sharp analytical and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting operations and revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Ability to synthesize and translate key accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with contract review and deal support
- High degree of comfort navigating and reconciling large data sets across multiple sources
- Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite (or another major ERP)
- CPA or equivalent strongly preferred
